1.  Blake Hall College has been fully operational since 2001 and is a UKBA Highly Trusted Sponsor.

2.  Blake Hall College is a partner College of Glyndŵr University.

3.  Blake Hall College is accredited by the University of Greenwich.

4.  Blake Hall College has access to Glyndŵr University staff, academic courses and online library and other facilities.

5.  Blake Hall College academic staff who lecture on degree and MBA courses are approved by the relevant university   (Glyndŵr University or University of Greenwich).

6.  Students’ assignments and examinations are marked by Blake Hall College staff, but assessed and moderated by the relevant University.

Become an Agent for Blake Hall College
 

Blake Hall College is always looking for new agents who would like to provide students with the opportunity to come and study in London. The College is looking for agents with a wealth of experience, who are knowledgeable about all policies and procedures of the UKBA. BHC only chooses to work with agents who are reputable in the industry with no less than 5 years’ experience. What is the procedure to become an agent at Blake Hall College?

 

Step 1:

Complete the Agent Application Form on the website

Step 2:

Blake Hall College will carefully assess all details provided by the agent on the form.  If the information is deemed sufficient Blake Hall College will send through a Representation Agreement to the email ID provided on the Agent Application form.

Step 3:

The agent must read all the Terms and Conditions and sign the Representation Agreement if he/she is satisfied with all the terms contained therein.

Step 4:

When both parties have signed the Representation Agreement, a Representation Certificate will be posted to the registered address of the agent.

Step 5:

Access to the Management Agent Recruitment System (MARS) will be sent to the agent via a notification from bhcapp to his/her email ID.

Step 6:

All agents are expected to read through the Agent Training Manual, the Recruitment Policies of the College and all applicable UKBA regulations.

Step 7:

Agents need to familiarise themselves with all of the current Blake Hall College marketing material and the prices of ALL courses. The MARS system and website will be frequently updated.

Step 8:

All application forms of new students must be loaded onto the MARS system. Providing that the student adheres to the UKBA/University requirements, a Conditional Offer will then be send to the agent.

Agent Recruitment Policy

Blake Hall College expects all agents (with a valid Representation Agreement) to adhere to the required UKBA regulations, the College Policies and the entry requirements of our Partner Universities.

The following criteria will be used to determine the credibility of an agent

  • How long the agency has been established
  • The amount of students the agent recruited the previous year
  • The visa acceptance rate of the agent
  • Whether the agent attended any British Council Training sessions
  • The feedback of references
  • The feedback of the BHC representative when visiting the official registered business premises of the agent

How will the credibility of the agents be measured?

The following documents will be requested before signing an agreement with the agent:

  • A completed online agent application form the website
  • Proof of a registered business address
  • Certificates supporting any claims of British Council training or equivalent
  • The feedback of references
  • The official company profile of the agent
  • An official feedback form completed, signed and dated by a Blake Hall College representative after visiting the premises of the agent

How will recruitment practices be verified?

  • The information on the application forms will be compared with the student's passport copy to see whether the information correlates with each other
  • The answer to the question " please state your reasons for wanting to study at Blake Hall College" will be used to determine the intention for wanting to study in the UK
  • IELTS certificates will be verified
  • Naric will be used as the official framework by which all qualifications will be measured
  • If qualifications are not listed on Naric, the qualifications will be sent to the Universities for the approval of a course
  • A recording of Skype/Telephonic interviews will be kept to assess the motivation for studying the specified course at Blake Hall College
  • The English Department will also keep notes on every interview that will be conducted to determine the academic ability of the student and the intentions for wanting to come and study in the UK.
  • A weekly call will be made to all agents to enquire about updated "used" CAS'e on the SMS system in order to get the appropriate documentation loaded onto the MARS system.
  • An internal weekly performance report will monitor the actions of all registered agents. If for any reason, the agent does not adhere to the requirements of the Recruitment policy, disciplinary actions will be taken
  • The Administration department will make copies of all original qualifications when the student arrives at the College to verify the authenticity of documents submitted during the application process

What are the responsibilities of a Blake Hall College agent?

  • Agents must represent the correct course information, as communicated by the College through the website, the prospectus and the MARS system, at all times to potential applicants

  • Agents must provide the College with the current contact details of all potential students as well as clear intentions as to why a student wants to come and study in the UK

  • All progression documents pertinent to the previous 12 months in the UK must be provided with the new application (if applicable). Records of attendance and academic progression will be verified by the College

  • All files must be prepared as specified in the College's Agent Training Manual

  • Potential students must adhere to the minimum SELT requirements as outlined on the UKBA website

  • For students in possession of a visa before 5th of October 2009 the student must complete a verbal and written English Test from Blake Hall College and score the required marks (as published by the UKBA) to be accepted.

  • The student must also complete a "change of College" form, available on the UKBA website, and provide the College with evidence of this on enrolment.

  • Agents are responsible for the verification of the progression and qualifications of all students prior to recruiting them to the College.

  • No fraudulent documents are to be submitted to Blake Hall College

  • Registered Agents will be responsible for all actions of their sub-agents

  • All data relating to potential applicants must be uploaded and updated on the MARS system

  • When a student receives a visa, the agent must upload the new visa copy on the MARS system

  • If a student needs to be deferred to the next intake due to delayed visa processing or for any other reason the agent must inform the College. The College will in return add a sponsor note to the CAS entry if the CAS has not been used; if it has been used the College Administration will inform the UKBA via the SMS system

What systems does Blake Hall College have in place to measure the performance of the Agents:

  • A Management Assistance recruitment system (MARS) summarising the performance of each agent
  • A Spreadsheet with defined recruitment  criteria's to measure performance against. The spreadsheet will be updated quarterly.

What criteria will be used to measure the performance for local and international agents?

  • The amount of students the agent has enrolled over six months
  • The number of visa rejections (international)
  • The English proficiency of students (local and international)
  • The amount of refund requests (local and international)

Unauthorised Actions:

The following actions are defined as poor recruitment practices

  • Misrepresentation of course information
  • Fraudulent SELT certificates
  • Fraudulent Blake Hall College English Tests
  • Students arriving later than the published intake date without notification from the agent
  • An agent with more than 3 rejections per intake based on student maintenance fees, fraudulent documentation or English proficiency
  • Failure to provide the necessary documentation to the College in order for the College to adhere to all UKBA regulations

Steps for Dealing with Poor Recruitment Practices

Warning 1:

If an agent does not respond or comply with the recruitment policies as outlined above, the college will send a warning letter to the agent's registered email ID (as indicated on the Mars system). It is the responsibility of agents to ensure that their contact details, as held by the College, are always up to date. The letter will state that the agent's recruitment practices are unsatisfactory and that he/she is at risk of termination.

Termination:

If an agent fails to adhere to the required UKBA regulations, the College Policies and the entry requirements of our Partner Universities for a second time, the Representation Agreement will be terminated with a 30 day notice period (as stipulated in the Representation Agreement).

If the actions of an agent put the College at risk of suspension or revocation of its Tier 4 licence, the Representation Agreement will be terminated with immediate effect.

The UKBA will be informed of the termination of an agent as stated in the Tier 4 Sponsor Guidance.

The agent training manual is only accessible to agents who are registered on our Student Recruitment system (MARS).
