entry-requirements

Blake Hall College Entry Requirements

Most International Students (except those from exempted countries) must provide a valid SELT test to qualify for a Tier 4 visa. If you are unable to provide a valid SELT test the College cannot accept you.

It is the responsibility of the College to adhere to all UKBA entry requirements and all Academic requirements of our Partner University, Glyndŵr University (Wales). The level of English you have to achieve is dependent on the level of studies for which you wish to enrol. Please see the UKBA English Requirements below to find out the minimum English level required for a visa. If you are a national of a majority English-speaking country as defined by the UKBA: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/studyingintheuk/adult-students/can-you-apply/english-language/# you are not required to prove competency in English. If you are an EU student you are not subject to the UKBA English language requirements, but must comply with the conditions of the relevant University. The College provides English assistance where necessary through Pre-Sessional classes and individual tutorials.

For a student to qualify for any course at Blake Hall College he/she has to provide the College with a qualification that is equivalent to A- levels (according to UK NARIC, the International Framework by which all qualifications are measured). If the student wishes to enrol for a Postgraduate Degree he/she has to provide the College with a qualification equivalent to a Bachelors Ordinary Degree (according to UK NARIC).

If a student is unsure of his/her qualification we recommend he/she sends through all recent qualifications to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . The Admissions Officer will then be able to assess the qualification and recommend the most suitable course.

pre-arrivl-INFORMAtion

Blake Hall College provides students with all necessary information and services to make their stay in London as pleasant as possible.

Immigration Control:

It is unlikely that you will encounter any difficulty at immigration if you have the correct documents with you (in your hand luggage). The following documents are required when entering the UK on a Tier 4 Student visa:

  • Your passport with your visa (please ensure the college license number is visible)
  •  A copy of your Blake Hall College unconditonal offer letter containing your CAS number
  • Accommodation address in the UK
  • The contact details of the person meeting you at the airport
  • UK currency, travellers cheques or ATM card

Once you arrive at the airport you have to show the Immigration Officer your passport and entry clearance documents as specified above or your Visa identity card where necessary. The immigration officer might ask a series of questions regarding your programme of study and College. The questions will mainly be to asess the reason for you wanting to come and study in the UK. If the Immigration Officer is satisfied, he/she will put a date stamp in your passport.

Arrival Information:

On arrival in London the student needs be aware of the following:

• The student must have a valid UK visa

• The student is advised to purchase an Oyster card (travel card) at the airport in order to travel by bus or underground train

• The student is advised to know the full address and Post Code where he/she will be staying

• The students should know how to get to his/her destination by public transport www.tfl.gov.uk

Deferments:

The UKBA allows students to arrive up to 10 days after the published intake date. Some visas may take longer to process; therefore Blake Hall College will provide students with a deferment letter providing that they inform the College that they will not be able to arrive in time for the published intake date. If the student does not notify the College within the valid period of arrival, the student will be reported to UKBA as a "non-arrival."

Induction:

Blake Hall College provides students with an extensive Induction programme to help them adapt to their new surroundings. The Induction normally lasts for two days. The induction schedule will be downloadable under downloads and will be updated every four months. Induction will start at 10h00 each day.

Students need to bring:

• An original Passport

• An original Visa

• Original Academic Qualifications

• 2 Passport photos

Programme for Day 1:

Students will complete the following:

• Biometric registration

Students whose marks in the SELT and Arrival Test are at the lower end of the acceptable scale will be encouraged to book individual appointments with specialist language tutors throughout their course of study.

An Induction Schedule will be given to all students on the first day that they arrive at the College.

Programme of Day 2:

Students will attend seminars by the Marketing Team, Student Welfare Department, Student Union and the relevant Academic Department to explain the policies and procedures of Blake Hall College in more detail.

The following topics will be discussed:
